Divi theme version 2.0: Release date announced

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the WordPress theme to beat in 2014 is Divi by Elegant Themes.
Since its release Divi has attracted a huge following and nowhere is that more apparent than over on the Elegant Themes blog where comments are peppered with the question… “when will Divi 2.0 be released?”

Up to now Nick Roach and his team have resisted giving a release date, but they’ve finally given in and announced that the release date for Divi 2.0 will be… May 21st, 2014.

Elegant Themes have published a couple of posts giving us sneak peeks of some of the new features and enhancements that will be included in Divi 2.0 so In this post I’m going to whet your appetite by sharing a few of those “sneak peeks”.

Divi theme: The creative power of Divi Sections

The basic building blocks of the Divi pagebuilder theme are called Sections, Rows, Columns and Modules.
Sections, Rows and Columns work together to break your pages into visually separate areas and Modules allow you to add functionality such as contact forms, sliders etc.

In this post I’m going to concentrate on Sections, which are the largest organizational element, but if you want a better understanding of how the various components work together, check out my post: An overview of the awesome Divi Builder.

And don’t worry, if you think that Sections are boring and that Modules are where you get creative… by the end of this post you’ll realise just how creative you can get with Sections.

Divi theme: Saving, importing and exporting Divi layouts

When you activate your Divi theme and start building pages, you’ll notice that Divi comes with lots of preformatted pages that you can use as they are or as a starting point for your own pages.

Not only does this save you time and effort but it helps you get used to the layout and features of Divi and… once you’ve made your changes you can rename them and save them to use in the future.

You can also import and export pages between different websites, which makes Divi the perfect theme for anyone with multiple websites or anyone offering website design services and looking to build a portfolio of pages.
