Divi theme: Help, Advice and Inspiration

As soon as I tried out the Divi theme I knew that it would be the WordPress theme to beat in 2014 and boy… was I right.

I can tell by the number of Divi sites I see, the number of members in the Divi users Facebook group and the number of Divi related questions I get asked that more and more people are using this fabulous theme.

With so many Divi users out there I thought that the time was right to pull together all the Divi related help, advice and inspiration I’ve found or been introduced to and put them all together in one grand and glorious post.

One of the reasons I never use free themes is that they often have poor or non existent documentation and without that all important “how to” information you can waste a lot of time figuring out how to do things.

Most modern premium themes come with enough information to get you up and running, add various widgets and configure your homepage but the Divi theme by Elegant Themes has taken theme documentation to a whole new level.

One of the great things about the Divi theme is that it has Modules to do just about anything… without using a plugin. That includes adding a subscribe / newsletter widget and connecting to your mailing list provider.

The Subscribe / Newsletter Module is one of over thirty Modules that come with Divi and in this post I’ll look at the various options available to set up and configure it.

At the moment the Module works with FeedBurner, MailChimp and AWeber, but don’t worry if you don’t use any of those because in the next Divi release, it’s going to work with lots more.

A great way to showcase your visual goodies: artwork, photography, theme designs or any other visual data, is to use Portfolios.

In order to set up a Portfolio you can choose a dedicated WordPress portfolio theme, which would do the job but may be a bit limited in its other functions, or you can choose a theme that has dedicated Portfolio Modules… and a whole lot more.

The Divi theme by Elegant Themes doesn’t have just one Portfolio Module, it has three… the Standard Portfolio Module, the Fullwidth Portfolio Module and the Filterable Portfolio Module.

Having three Portfolio modules allows you to add variety and additional functionality to your Portfolios and because they are Modules, you can add them anywhere you want on your pages.
