Divi 2.6: Fabulous new features coming soon

Nick Roach and his team over at Elegant Themes are promising great things for Divi and the Divi Builder plugin in 2016 and they’re kicking things off with Divi 2.6, which will be available soon… very soon.

Divi 2.6 will include a new responsive editing system, new header styles in the Divi Theme Customizer, new and improved Modules and a whole lot more.

Many of these features have been added because Divi users have asked for them so they are rock solid useful features that will save you time and allow you to be more creative than ever.

Divi theme: Fullwidth Header Module with Fullscreen option

Divi theme: Fullwidth Header Module with Fullscreen option

Divi has some great Modules but at the moment my favourite is the upgraded Fullwidth Header Module, complete with new Full Screen functionality.

As well as being able to create over 20 different possible layouts with this module, you now have lots of new styling options that can be applied to each element via the Advanced Design Settings.

The upgraded Module is versatile, easy to use and produces stunning results and in this post I’ll run through how to set it up and take a look at a few examples of the Module in action.

This is the ninth in a series of posts designed to help you become familiar with Divi’s new features, to give you ideas on how and where to use them in practical web design situations and to provide you with resources to help build your Divi Library.

Extra Magazine theme – available now and ready for download

Extra Magazine theme – available now and ready for download

Some time ago I gave you a sneak peek of a magazine style theme called Extra.
The plan was for Extra to be to post / article based websites what Divi is to page based ones and like Divi, it would be driven by the Divi Builder.

Since I published that post Elegant Themes have created a 100% fluid and responsive grid, released the Divi Builder as a standalone WordPress plugin and put the two together to create the final version of Extra.

And the great news is, the Extra Magazine theme is now ready for download and believe me… it’s an absolute stunner.

This is a dedicated purpose built magazine-theme perfect for blogs, online publications and with custom WooCommerce integration, Extra is also ideal for eCommerce sites.

Whilst Divi’s strength lies in its multi-purpose approach and vast range of applications, Extra takes a more focused approach, tailoring its style to fit the needs of bloggers and online publications.

When Genesis met the Divi Builder – a true story

When Genesis met the Divi Builder – a true story

It’s confession time folks: although I love and adore Divi, I have to admit that I don’t use it exclusively, I also use Genesis child themes.

Using a Genesis child theme doesn’t allow me to add functionality without playing around with code, the way Divi does, but it does allow me to have a site up and running in just a few hours using the theme’s preconfigured layouts and preset colour options.

So what if I could only choose one theme, Genesis or Divi, which one would I choose?
Fortunately I don’t have to make that choice because with the release of the Divi Builder plugin you can now add the power of Divi to your Genesis websites and have the best of both worlds

To show how easy it is I’ve taken one of my blogs, which uses the Genesis Sixteen Nine Pro child theme, and added a Divi Builder page and in this post I’ll walk you through the process.
