The Divi theme has become Elegant Themes most popular theme in fact it’s more popular than all of their other themes combined. And with its Pagebuilder functionality it was certainly the drag and drop theme to beat in 2014.

But in the world of WordPress nothing stands still and in 2015 the competition realised just how popular Divi was and they began to modify and update their own themes: they began to catch up.

Unfortunately for them, when Divi 2.4 is released…. it will once again leave them trailing in its wake.

I can’t really tell you much, because Elegant Themes haven’t said much, but what they have said is enough to give you a feel for just how powerful, flexible and easy to customise Divi 2.4 will be.

A great product evolving with even more amazing features. Calling Divi a ‘theme’ doesn’t seem to do it justice, it is so much more than what ‘themes’ are or have been in the past.

A new set of global settings to customise site-wide elements

The driving force behind Divi 2.4 is to make it much more adaptable and easier to customise, which means that you won’t have to spend time searching for and modifying CSS.

To that end Divi 2.4 will have a new set of global settings that will allow you to modify site-wide elements such as the height of the navigation menu, the logo or the content area as a whole.

A re-coded fluid and percentage-based grid for greater responsiveness

The backbone of Divi 2.4 will be a completely re-coded grid, which will be totally fluid and percentage-based. All fixed widths will be removed, which means that you won’t have to spend time and effort modifying them.

The result will be a Divi that looks exactly the same as previous versions on your Desktop, but responds in a much more intuitive way on mobile devices.

This fluid grid will allow the Divi Builder to work anywhere including a blog post or even in an entirely different theme!

Advanced design settings / custom CSS controls for every Divi Module

Not only will Divi 2.4 be fluid, but it will also be very very flexible.

Elegant Themes are adding advanced design settings / custom CSS controls to every single module, and these settings will allow you to quickly edit anything and everything about each module without ever touching a line of code.

Custom colours, fonts, sizes, padding, margin and more. If you can do it with CSS, you will be able to do it with Divi’s Advanced Design Settings / custom CSS controls.

The Divi Library for saved Modules, Rows, Sections and whole Layouts

A 2.4 feature that Elegant Themes are particularly excited about is the Divi Library.

The Divi Library is an extension of the Saved Layouts functionality, and Elegant Themes say that the features they are adding here are going to make building new sites so fast you’ll wonder how you ever lived without them.

From the Elegant Themes screenshots it looks as though you will be able to save and retrieve individual Modules, Rows and Sections as well as whole Layouts.

Join the Divi community and prepare for the release of Divi 2.4

Even from the limited amount of information that Elegant Themes have released, it looks as though Divi 2.4 will not only be more intuitively responsive but customisation will be easier to carry out both on a global site wide basis and on a detailed Module by Module basis.

For Divi users that translates into a better viewing experience for your visitors viewing on mobile and a faster site build and easier customisation for you.

From one of Nick Roach’s blog comments it sounds as though the 2.4 update will be available in about three weeks to a month’s time. If you’re a Divi user with the Elegant Themes Updater plugin installed and activated you’ll automatically receive a notice, in your WordPress dashboard, when the update is released.

If you’d like to join the Divi community and prepare for Divi 2.4, then sign up with Elegant Themes, download your copy of the Divi Pagebuilder theme and get ready to start building some awesome websites.

I hope this gives everyone a clearer picture about what we are working on behind the scenes, and why we think it’s important to tackle these updates before completing Extra and the Divi Builder Plugin. We are laying the foundation for what will continue to be the most powerful and easy-to-use WordPress page builder on the market.
