A very short post with a very important piece of news: a Divi 3.0 preview video has just been released and it is absolutely stunning.
Divi 3.0 will officially be released in 34 days’ time (September 7th, 2016) but to put us all out of our misery, Elegant Themes have released “a full length video screencast of the new visual builder in action.”
I’ve watched the video at least half a dozen times and each time I spot something new and… the music’s not bad either.
Enjoy the video and prepare yourself for Divi 3.0, the theme that will change forever the way that we create websites.
3.0 is the biggest and most transformative update we have ever given Divi. It will introduce an entirely new and modern visual editing experience built with React.
It’s incredibly fast (probably the fastest website building experience you have ever seen), the UI is beautiful and the visual nature of the builder is pure magic.
It’s going to completely change the way you build websites, but don’t just take my word for it, watch the video below for a small taste of what Divi 3.0 has to offer.

The magical Divi 3.0 preview video in action
The video shows the new Divi Builder as it exists in its current stage of development, which is the alpha version.
Elegant Themes say that “This version is still rough compared to what we’ll launch with, but it’s looking good enough to share our excitement with the community!”
I don’t know what you think but it doesn’t look rough to me, it looks magical, absolutely magical.
The Divi 3.0 Visual Builder: a few screenshots to whet your appetite
Up to now the format of editing within the Divi 3.0 visual builder has been pure speculation but with the release of the preview video… we know a whole lot more.
To give you a feel of what to expect, and to whet your appetite, I’ve taken a few screenshots from the video and set them out below:
Divi Visual Builder screenshot 01 – setting up the basic layout and seeing the result in real time
Setting up layouts and deciding which looks best will only take a few mouse clicks, no more saving and previewing.
As you move between a two column layout and a three column layout the results will be displayed on the actual page for you to decide which best suits your needs.
Divi Visual Builder screenshot 02 – displaying your edits actually on the page and almost instantaneously
No more playing around with colours, font combinations and font sizes then hitting save and previewing the results. Changes will now be displayed on the actual page, and almost instantaneously!
Divi Visual Builder screenshot 03 – on-page editing for smartphone and tablet
No more crossing your fingers and hoping that things will look OK on smartphone or tablet.
Now you can make your edits in mobile view and see what the results will really look like on any device.
Totally intuitive: the Divi 3.0 visual builder interface for editing your pages on the front end of your website!
Post update dated 18th Aug 16 – Elegant Themes have released another video showing the Divi 3.0 visual builder in action and boy oh boy does it look good.
Divi 3.0 will introduce a completely new visual builder interface that will allow you to edit your pages on the front end of your website… that’s right, on the front end of your website.
The new builder has been re-created from the ground up using React and Flux; modern javascript libraries for building web interfaces.
Elegant Themes refer to the new on-page interface as “The Invisible and Customizable Interface” which sounds good, but you can judge for yourself from their latest video.
When you first load the new builder, you might not even know it’s there.
As you start to explore the page, however, the controls become apparent without crowding your screen or obstructing the design of your page.
In addition, the interface can be customized to fit your screen, adjust to your content and satisfy your personal preferences.
It’s a design experience unlike anything else.

Divi 3.0 Beta is out… and folks are loving it
Post update dated 20th Aug 16 – Divi 3.0 Beta was released on the 19th August and even as you read this post the Divi community are poking it, prodding it and generally putting it through its paces so that you and I get a great finished product.
I’ve not seen a lot of feedback but judging by a thread started by Terry Hale in the Divi Theme | Extra Theme | Divi Builder Facebook group the Beta testers are loving it.
This is a closed group but to give you a flavour of how the Beta version is being received, here are a few sample comments:
It’s totally sick. Even better, in real life, than the videos that Nick shared.
NDA considering, I’ll just verify the speed is real. In fact, it’s almost uncanny. After a couple of hours, you will start getting cozy, and you will be in heaven. AS LONG AS you follow directions and understand the power (and yet limitations) of the tool.
I wish I could tease you with the portability aspect, but… 😉Galactic kudos to the team at Elegant Themes!
Terry Hale – original comment
Installed the beta a couple hours ago and finally got a chance to play with the ‘Visual Builder’. Actually, quite speechless and, really, all I can say again is, ‘my lifetime membership to ET IS the best money I ever spent’!
Chris Potter
I’m on Beta too.. for CHRIST SAKE you don’t know what is coming to you…
Alex Vojacek
Been playing with the beta since 4am…..I’m totally impressed!
Terry Lamar
The Beta testers are under pain of death not to disclose anything about Divi 3.0 so sadly all I can do is leave you with a screenshot taken from the Divi 3.0 sneak peek video #2 and a reminder that Divi 3.0 will be officially released on 7th September 2016.
Divi 3.0’s In-Line editor in action – Add, Edit and Style directly on your page!
Post update dated 25th Aug 16 – Elegant Themes have released their Divi 3.0 Sneak Peek video #3, which shows the In-Line editor adding, editing and styling content on the actual page…. which of course is why it’s called a front-end editor.
The In-line Editor allows you to add, edit and style text content directly on your page without ever opening a module’s settings panel, just click and start typing!
The new In-Line editor also gives you additional options such as custom fonts and text sizes.
What makes the new visual builder so special is that it allows you to edit your website on your actual website.
You are no longer limited to a backend builder and its block-based representations of content elements.
There is no longer a need to preview your content and there is no mystery as to how each adjustment will affect your design because the entire building process happens right before your eyes.

Nick Roach tells us that “It’s perhaps my favorite part of Divi 3.0, and today I would like to give you a quick look at how it works. Enjoy!”
One More Sneak Peek To Come – Next week I will be posting my final Divi 3.0 sneak peek, so be sure to follow along with the Divi 100 marathon to get a final glimpse at the new builder before we launch. In the meantime, let us know what you think of what we have shown you so far and stay tuned for the last two weeks of the Divi 100 marathon for your daily dose of Divi goodness.

Divi 3.0 final Sneak Peek: Visual Undo, Redo and Revision History
Post update dated 1st Sept 16 – this is it folks, Divi 3.0 video #4, which is the final Sneak Peek before Divi 3.0 is officially released on September 7th 2016.
The video demonstrates the integration of undo, redo and revision history into the visual builder… and it works like a dream!
This is what Nick Roach has to say about these features and how they illustrate perfectly the speed of the builder and how visual and intuitive using it is:
Not only are these cool features in and of themselves, but they are also a great way to showcase the speed of the builder and to show you how the visual nature of the new builder can often surprise and delight you with its intuition.
The ability to undo and redo in the visual builder is especially useful because you can use it to compare recent edits and see the differences in real time.
Think of it like a digital sketchbook that you can flip through at any time!
The revision history system keeps track of every change you make and allows you to jump backwards and forward through time to any moment during your editing session. It’s a cool feature of the current Divi builder, but it’s infinitely cooler in the new visual builder!
The waiting is almost over, Divi 3.0 will be released in a few days time and we’ll all be able to play with the visual builder to our heart’s content.
In the meantime, I’ll leave you with one last screenshot taken from the final sneak peek video:

Updating to divi 3.0 for existing Divi users
And what about updating if you’re an existing Divi user?
No problem: this is what Nick Roach has to say about updating:
Current Divi users need not be concerned about clicking the upgrade button. Even though we have completely re-designed the builder, the end result on your page will remain unchanged.
All modules and settings will work exactly as they have in the past and you can even bounce back and forth between the backend and front end builders at your leisure. Divi 3.0 offers full backwards compatibility.
